NDP 38R

TV&GWOT is delighted to announce the acquisition of 1976 Reading Transport VR 38 thanks to the generosity of a TV&GWOT Supporter who owned and undertook this exceptional restoration over many years.  It is pictured on its inaugural TV&GWOT outing on the HCVS London to Brighton Run on 7th May 2017 where it was runner up in the Class of single & double deck passenger vehicles built after 31.12.1949.

Reading Borough Transport 38 Morley’s Preservation & restoration TV&GWOT

Ever wanted to be part of the VR preservation movement?  Well, now’s your chance.

Once the hard work of restoration is complete, investment is vital to maintain the condition and roadworthiness so that it can be seen out and enjoyed….. Could this be where you come in?

Ownership of 38 has generously been transferred to TV&GWOT but resources are needed to maintain its fine condition….  Support can be one-off or by making regular monthly payments (e.g. £5, £10, £25 etc) or annually from £60 upwards.

Standing Order forms for donations, which may benefit from Gift Aid, are available in Word or pdf formats.

Please contribute to this worthwhile cause and ensure you get a ride – there will one of the refurbished seats for you at the Didcot rally in early June.

38 has the long version of the VRT chassis with dual passenger doors in a rare NCME body. It was delivered new to Reading Borough Transport in 1976. Sold to Ensign from Reading Transport Ltd in 1989 it went on for 9 years’ service to Morley, Whittlsea before being acquired for preservation.
