VCS90 – 90 years of Victoria Coach Station – A Celebration

TV&GWOT’s commemorative book “90 Years of Victoria Coach Station” is available to purchase online. The book looks at different aspects of the coach station development and operational heritage, drawing in part on the London Coastal Coaches collection held by the Bus Archive.  In addition, the express services between the Thames Valley and VCS have been documented for the first time based on new research.  Wheels to the West are another aspect relevant to the TV&GWOT areas of interest and the record of vehicles serving the West Country has been brought up to date.  Readers are transported back to see life at VCS at different points through the last 90 years –a busy summer’s day in 1962 and the rail strike of 1982 are examples, with pictures of coaches serving the whole country.

The book is B5 format (between A4 and A5), 96 pages, soft bound and includes 160 illustrations, over 100 in colour.  It can be purchased online for £15 with the addition of £3 post & packing.  Click here for details of the VCS90 events.

Thames Valley Traction Co. Ltd Centenary+2 – A Celebration

The Thames Valley Traction Co. Ltd was first registered on 10 July 1920 – the Covid Pandemic thwarted Centenary celebrations so Supporters took TV&GWOT’s TV fleet on a tour of former depots from Windsor to Newbury on 10 July 2022. A companion Souvenir Booklet has been published with input from renowned TVTCo. historian Paul Lacey, documenting the company origins in 1920 and the growth in the fleet and patronage over subsequent decades. A detailed record of the routes as they developed from July 1920 through to December 1971 is catalogued, accompanied by photographs from the Paul Lacey Collection. In addition the Trust’s work preserving its unique collection of TV vehicles is presented, complemented by photographs from the Trust’s archive showing the locations visited on the Supporters tour, the basis for some ‘then’ and ‘now’ photographic comparisons.

The booklet is A5 format, 36 pages, with a short print run but copies can be purchased for £5 with the addition of £1 post & packing.
